GENERAL INFORMATION
PROJECT OF THE CONFERENCE
Date:
The 2nd CONFERENCE ON PHEROMONES, FOOD LURE, TRAPS AND BIOLOGICAL CONTROL: ALTERNATIVES FOR AGRICULTURE IN THE 21ST CENTURY will take place in Murcia, on the 18 and 19 of November 2009.
Aimed at:
Private sector and Government technicians, qualified farmers, professional organizations, entities and companies related to technical tasks that must be carried out in the field for a correct production of fruits and vegetables, regarding pest control and illnesses.
Nature:
The Conference will be of an international nature, thanks to the contribution of researchers and multinational companies who work and produce pheromones, traps, food lure or auxiliary insects to be used in agriculture for pest control.
Venue:
The Conference will take place in the Regional Auditorium of Murcia, as over 600 people are estimated to attend. Simultaneous interpreting from English into Spanish and vice versa will be available.
Organization:
The Conference will be organized by the staff of the Service of Plant Health (Alfonso Lucas, Antonio Monserrat, Antonio Soler), which is part of the Regional Ministry for Agriculture and Water of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia
The Department of Events of the travel agency Caja Murcia will be in charge of other issues, such as media, venues, assistance, participant's accommodation, transport, administration, etc. This is the same Department which collaborated successfully in the 1st Conference on Pheromones on 2006.
Participation:
The participation fee for the Conference is of 30€, which will be used to cover organization expenses.
Those willing to participate must register (once the program is defined and the registration period is opened), in order to book a place and for the organizers to calculate the number of participants. It will be possible that those who do not make a reservation will not be able to attend the Conference, due to the lack of space. Other issues about the Conference:
National and international speakers of great prestige are planned to be invited, so that they can explain in the most efficient way the topics which will be developed during each of the days in a simple and practical way. During the Conference, experiences and projects carried out during the last years in the Region of Murcia will be shown.
As it already happened in the 1st Conference, we are looking for a magazine in our sector to publish one issue with the summary of all the contents and it will be distributed in the event.
The final presentations will be distributed to the participants in a DVD after the Conference, or they will be uploaded to the exclusive web page of the Conference (www.feromonasmurcia.com), where it will be possible, both for participants and non-participants, to consult and download the presentations.
